Otaru Beer is a Otaru local beer established in 1995 in the Otaru Soko No. 1 Warehouse, which is located in a cluster of Taisho-age built warehouses built along the Otaru Canal小樽運河沿いに建ち並ぶ、大正時代の趣ある倉庫群。その一角にある「小樽倉庫No.1」をベースに1995年に誕生した、小樽の地ビール「小樽ビール」。醸造所で瓶や樽に詰められた酵母が生きたフレッシュなビールは、ベストな状態の鮮度を保つため、醸造所から100km圏内のみで楽しむことができる。




. Brewed and packaged into glass bottles and barrels, the fresh beer with yeast can only be enjoyed within the 100 km area from the brewery, to attain freshness with the best condition.

Aiming to introduce the culture of the classic German beer in Japan, Otaru Beer is made based upon the German Law of Purity, which was enacted in Germany in 1516, stating beer could be only be produced from malt, water, hops, and yeast. The brewing recipe is based on the traditional brewing methods from the Johannes Braun’s family dating back over 200 years. Brewing with selected ingredients of Otaru’s soft water, organic malt, hop, and yeast, the healthy and fresh Otaru Beer can be enjoyed.

There are 3 basic lineups of Otaru Beer: Pilsner with a full of fresh aroma hops, Dunkel with a smooth malty caramel flavor, and Weiss with a distinctly delicious aroma and flavor of banana. You can also try other lineups such as Non-Alcohol and limited seasonal beers.

In Otaru Soko No.1, you can enjoy a brewery tour (free) to learn more about the brewery process of Otaru Beer. Otaru Beer can be purchased at shops, restaurants, and bars in the limited area of Otaru, Sapporo, and Ishikari. In addition, the home delivery service is also available for the limited delivery area.
