Located in a cluster of Taisho-age built warehouses along the Otaru Canal, Otaru Soko No.1 was opened in 1995 in the renovated old grain warehouse, where is uses as a beer hall小樽の代名詞である運河に沿って建ち並ぶ倉庫群。その一角の大正時代には穀物倉庫として使われていた建物を改装して1995年にオープンした「小樽倉庫No1」は、小樽の地ビール「小樽ビール」を楽しむことができるビアホールであり、小樽ビールの醸造所としても使用されている。

There are 2 big copper mash kettles in the center of this beer hall, used for mixing the crushed malt with water. The Otaru Soko No.1 offers the 20-minutes brewery tour (free) daily to learn more about the brewery process of Otaru Beer by experiencing to eat malt, drink wort, and looking inside the mash kettle.

Inside the Otaru Soko No.1there are big wooden tables and chairs placed in the German beer hall style. Having communication with other visitors to be seated next to each other, visitors will be enjoying a range of the standard Otaru Beer such as Pilsner, Dunkel, and Weiss, as well as beer cocktails mixed with fruits and herbs.

The Otaru Soko No.1 promotes to serve locally produced food. The food menu includes daily chef’s specials, handmade sausages, German potato, handmade pretzels among other German style menus. This place also offers music and dance performance events irregularly.

The Otaru Beer with fresh yeast can only be enjoyed within the 100 km area from the brewery. This brewery restaurant is a must-visit place when visiting Otaru.
