本格的な庭園としては処女作でありながら、自他ともに認める重森三玲の代表作であり、日本庭園の歴史や技巧を研究しながらも永遠のモダンを追い求めた彼の原点である。Created in 1939, the Hojo garden in Tohuku-ji Temple is Mirei Shigemori’s representative garden work in which he has pursue the everlasting modern.

龍吟庵Ryogin-an

東福寺本坊より洗玉澗に架かる紅葉の名所・木造橋廊「偃月橋」を渡ったところにある龍吟庵。室町時代初期に建造された現存最古の方丈建築で方丈は国宝文化財。Built in 1291, the Ryogin-an is the oldest Hojo architecture (Hojo is a national treasure) built in the beginning of Muromachi Era.

重森三玲庭園美術館Mirei Shigemori Garden Museum
重森三玲が京都で暮らすようになって十数年後、吉田神社の旧社家あったものを譲り受け、茶室などを建て増しした旧重森邸。主な建築は江戸期中期の建物で、Mirei Shigemori (1896-1975) is a Showa’s representative garden artist as well as a garden history researcher who has advocated avant-garde ikebana.

「flowing KARASUMA（フローイング・カラスマ）」は、「五感空間」を提供することを目的に京都の新しい顔、烏丸通りに誕生した複合施設。The flowing KARASUMA is a new face complex in Kyoto, that opened at Karasuma Dori to provide “5 senses space”. The building was constracted in Taisho era and was formally used as a bank designed by Kingo Tatsuno
