In the corner of Acuña de Figueroa, Soler and Julian Álvarez Streets, one can find Céntrico, an original footwear option. Behind the project is Leonardo Mancuso, who has trained inパレルモの中心地、アクーニャ・デ・フィゲロア通りとフリアン・アルバレス通りが交わる角に、オリジナルの靴を販売するお店「セントリコ」がある。そこで日々靴作りに従事しているのが、生産工学からファッション・デザイン、写真、さらには美術史まで幅広いクリエイティブを学んだレオナルド・マンキューソ。アルゼンチンの有名な靴ブランドで長年働いてきた職人である父から、靴作りの技を継承している。
親子が自分たちで靴工房を立ち上げたのは1992年。当初は既存のブランドの靴の制作を受託していたが、やがて自分たちのオリジナルの靴を作るようになり、2009年からパレルモの中心街で家屋を再利用して店舗を開いている。店の地下には、アートギャラリー「ガレリア・セントリカ」を設け、アルゼンチンの写真家を中心とした新進アーティストたちの展覧会も開催している。
店内で販売されている靴や付属品はすべて、上質な素材と卓越した繊細な技術から生まれている。『私たちは流行に惑わされない、古典のように時代を超えて愛されてゆく、シンプルで伝統を重んじた靴作りをしていきたいと考えています。そうやって、靴職人の精神を伝えていきたい』とレオナルド。
彼らの最新のコレクションの中でも注目したいのは、側面にジップのついたオープントゥの、靴の底が10cmもあるレディースのブーツと、ツヤ加工の施されていない青いヌメ革の斬新なメンズのモカシン。「セントリコ」のコレクションは大胆かつオリジナルだ。他にはない自分だけの一足を探しているなら、ここは外せない。

Translation: Eri Tsuji industrial engineering, fashion design, photography and art history. The tradition of shoe-making was something Leonardo inherited, since his father worked for many years in an important Argentinean shoe brand.
Since 1992, father and son have been creating their own shoe factory, with which at the beginning they made collections for other brands, until they decided to organize their own. As from 2009, their creations have been available in this nice recycled house located in the heart of Palermo. In the basement they have a space for art exhibitions (Galería Céntrica) where emerging Argentinean artists, especially photographers, exhibit their work.
The shoes and accessories in Céntrico are made out of noble materials, and in their making there is a pre-eminence of quality and care. ‘We always maintain the essence of artisan shoe-making, and we aim at designing collections that go beyond the yearly trends and creations, transcending time like classics do, focusing on singularity and tradition,’ Leonardo says.
The highlights from the last collection are the women’s boots with a zip on the side and an open tip on a 10 cm base, lined in leather, and in the men’s collection, the revisited moccasin, made out of pre-washed blue Nubuck.
The collections at Céntrico are daring and different, thus rendering them an option to take into account when looking for original footwear.
