秋芳洞Akiyoshido

東洋最大規模の洞窟、秋芳洞。高さ24m幅9mの巨大な入り口を入ってすぐその全貌を捉えることが出来る。鍾乳洞は水の流れに沿って形成され様々な形を創る、自然の造形美の神秘だ。この中でも「百枚皿」はAkihoshido is one of the biggest calcareous cave in east Asia. It is 24 meter high and 9 meter wide at the entrance. The most distinguished part of the cave is “Hyakumai Sara”独特の形状で、波紋の形に固まった無数の固まりが多くの皿を並べたような姿からこの名がつけられた。
秋芳洞は「秋吉台地下水系」として、景清洞、大正洞と共にラムサール条約に指定された。懐中電灯の灯のみで鍾乳洞を見学するツアーなどもある。光を当てると細かい結晶がきらきらと光って美しい鍾乳洞は、百枚皿のように形から名付けられた数々の見所が次々と表れて見物である。

Akiyoshido was also registered with its groundwater system onto Ramsar Convention, the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat. There is a flashlight tour that people walk into dark cave with flashlight to see crystals shine by light reflection.
