Back when it first opened in 2002, Fairmont Dubai was one of the tallest in the surrounding area. These days, the 34-story building may no longer be one of the tallest, but it is still regarded as an early roadmapフェアモント・ドバイは、2002年の開業時、その地域で最も高い建物の一つだった。ここ最近では、この34階建てのビルはすでに最も高いと言えなくなったが、ドバイ独特の建築様式の先駆け的存在だったため未だに注目されている。
フェアモント・ドバイは西洋と中東を融合させたスタイルの興味深い建物だ。それは摩天楼とも砂埃に覆われたアラビアの要塞とも見える。実際、その形は古いアラビアの風の塔（アラビア語でバラジール）を模してデザインされた。
シェイクザイド・ハイウェイに沿って高層ビル立ち並ぶ中にフェアモントはある。この高速沿いは、今やまさに壮大なビルたちのショーケースだ。フェアモント・ホテルは394室あるすべてのゲストルームとスイートを950万ドルかけて2011年に改装した。
特筆すべきは、3700平米の広さを持つスパと、朝日と夕日の両方が楽しめる２つの屋外プールがあるヘルスクラブだ。また長年ベストステーキハウスに登場する「エクスチェンジグリル」はぜひ訪れたい。

The building is an interesting blend of western and Middle Eastern themes. It resembles both a skyscraper and, with its dusty colour, an Arabian fort. In fact, the building shape itself is inspired by the shape of an old Arabian wind tower (Barajeel in Arabic).
The opening of the Fairmont came during a building frenzy along the main arterial highway, Sheikh Zayed Road. The road now looks like a showcase of astonishing and ambitious buildings. Fairmont hotel spent USD$9.5 million on a recent facelift which involved a renovation of all 394 guestrooms and suites.
The centrepiece is a 3700 m2 spa and health club that includes two rooftop swimming pools, boasting unfettered views of both the sunrise and sunset over a dotted skyline. Also the best steakhouse in town for years ‘The Exchange Grill’ is definitely worth a visit.
