The restaurant LaSalle is located inside the former shipbuilding factory from the 19th-century, a landmark in Zurich’s industrial area called “Schiffbau”レストラン・ラサールは、19世紀に建てられた造船工場だったところにある。その工場は、チューリッヒの工業地帯のランドマークで、“シフボー”と呼ばれていた。レストランのそばには、大きなレンガの建物があり、３つの映画館とジャズクラブ、映画館関係の事務所が入っている。クレイツ５というその地域は、デザイナーや建築系のオフィススペースとして人気が出てきている。夜には映画館やクラブ、イベントホールなどで、多くのイベントが行なわれる。
このような環境で、ラサールは、2000年のオープン以来、映画館の観客だけでなく多くの地元の人々や観光客に人気のスポットとなっている。オーナーの一人であるクラウディーン・ブルーナーさんは、ラサールを、チューリッヒで大きく成功した都会的なレストランだと表現し、っかつてない異例な存在だとも話す。
そのレストランのもっとも顕著な特徴は、その建物である。周囲はガラスで覆われ、まるで温室内の工場にいるかのようなのだ。ムラーノガラスで出来た大きなシャンデリアが、きちんと糊付けされアイロンがけされたテーブルクロスや特注の椅子の上で輝いている。バーと平行して、８メートルの長さのテーブルが、赤く塗られたコンクリートの壁に沿って置かれている。どちらも共同経営者のペーター・カーンによるデザインで、映画館の雰囲気を反映させている。
ここでは、建築がメニューにも影響を与えている。エレガントでシンプルでアバンギャルド。ほとんどのメニューは、食欲に応じて小さいサイズとレギュラーサイズから選ぶことができるので、様々な種類を楽しめる。お気に入りのスターターであり、レストランの人気メニューなのが、しょうゆ風味のツナのビーンスプラウト添え（28または22スイスフラン）だ。メインディッシュには、トリュフオイルのポルチーニマッシュルームリゾット（29または22スイスフラン）、赤ワイン漬けエシャロットと子牛のステーキ（49スイスフラン）などがあり、食欲を満たしてくれる。季節ごとに職人から生み出されるワインのバリエーションも豊富で、世界中のあらゆる種類のワインを楽しむことができる。ウェブサイトでメニューをチェックしてかã
週末の夜は満席になるので、予約をしていったほうがいい。特にダイニングホールに座りたければ、必ず予約が必要となる。予約なしで行くなら、バーの長いテーブル席になるが、フレンドリーなプロの接客を受けられることには変わりない。

Translation: Kei Shimizu. Besides the restaurant, the grandiose brick building accommodates 3 theaters, a jazz club, and theater-related offices. The area – Kreis 5 – is becoming popular for office space for designers and architects. At night, there are a lot of cultural offerings, movie theatres, clubs and event halls.
In such an environment, LaSalle is a destination not just for theater guests but also for many locals and tourists since it’s opening in September 2000. One of the owners, Ms. Claudine Brunner, says LaSalle as a cosmopolitan restaurant has been a great success in the city of Zurich, as there was not such a scene previously.
The most remarkable feature of the restaurant is probably its architecture. Enclosed with glass façade and ceiling, the restaurant sits inside the factory building like a greenhouse. A massive Murano Venetian glass chandelier sparkles above well-starched and ironed white tablecloths and custom made chairs. Parallel to the bar, an 8-meter long table lines along the red painted concrete wall. Both are designed to reflect the atmosphere of the theater by a co-owner Mr. Peter Kern.
Here, the architecture well reflects the menu – elegant and simple, if not avant-garde. For most menu items, you can choose a small or regular portion depending on your appetite, and this allows you to try a few more dishes. My favorite starter and the restaurant’s popular dish is tuna Tatar with soy sauce and bean sprouts (CHF 28.00 or 22.00). For main dish, Porcini mushroom risotto with truffle oil (CHF 29.00 or 22.00) or calf steak with red wine shallots (CHF 49.00) will fulfill your appetite. Crafted by an enologist seasonally, the wine list gives you a great opportunity to explore a wide range of new wines from all over the world. Don’t forget to check the menu on the website, updated daily at 10AM and 4PM.
It’s a full house on weekend nights, and reservation is highly recommended, especially if you want to sit in the dining hall. Otherwise, you can find a seat at the long table in the bar, and the friendly wait staff will serve you with professional hospitality.
LaSalle is a kind of place that makes you want to bring your out-of-town parents and show them the sophistication and maturity of the city. So dress up and be ready to pay for the occasion!
Direction: From the Zurich’s main station (Hauptbahnhof), take a tram No.4 or No.13 to the station “Escher-Wyss-Platz” or take a suburban railway (S-Bahn) to the station “Hardbrücke”.
