古い一軒家を改装した、器や生活のものを取り扱うお店「コホロ」。近代的な百貨店の建物がそびえ立つ脇の路地の一角に、箒や竹のかご、あけびのかご、鉄瓶、器などを扱う小さなお店Kohoro is an interior coordination store that reconstructed out of old fashion house. It carries brooms, bamboo baskets, akebi baskets, steel bottles, vesselsがある。桜色の器や貫入の美しい器、水切れの良い醤油さしなど、作家ものの作品を紹介し、販売している。
お店は天井を高くし、床もおろして空間をとにかく広くとったのだそう。コンクリートは打ちっ放しに、柱などの木はそのままむき出しにされ、あるがままの飾り気のないシンプルな空間に仕上がった。古道具屋で見つけた昔の食器棚やオーナーの実家で見つけた古道具などがレイアウトされた店内には、現代作家の器や革デザイナーと相談しながら作ったというオリジナルの革製バッグや小物類、民芸の品々が整然と並んでいる。
定期開催している企画展では、クラフトフェアや展示会などで作品を目にし、期待や可能性を感じられる作家にコホロで作品を発表する場を提供し、お客さまには若い人でも大量生産ではない、温もりが感じられる“作家の器”を手頃な価格で購入できる機会を設けている。
コホロではモノが溢れかえり、生活の中で使うことの感覚が麻痺しがちな今だからこそ、実際に使ってみて料理が映えるものや、使いやすいものを日本各地からセレクトしている。日本の昔から今に継承される“民芸”は、名もなき職人がただひたすらに、その技術を持ってつくり、使われ続けてきた素晴らしい継承のカタチ。日常で使うほどに味わいが増していき、愛着の持てる一品はギフトにも最適だ。
店名の“コホロ”は、平安時代の擬音語で、葛籠の中でモノがぶつかり、“コトンコトン”と鳴る、小さな音色のことなのだそう。日本語の美しさも教えてくれる、そんな素敵なお店だ。

The store has high ceiling to provide atmosphere of wide and open space. It has plain and simple looking without any unnecessary decoration inside. The store uses antiques furniture for its interior, but modern designed products are also displayed such as leather bags and general merchandises.
The store holds an exhibition regularly by categories of product. It is good place for new designers and craftsmen to announce their works. Customers are able to buy hand made products for reasonable price.
Kohoro selects their carrying product based on daily usefulness. Those products are come from all over Japan and each product are exquisite and traditionally made by workmen. Customers would love them and also those are good for gifts for their friends.
Kohoro helps inspiring and influence people with beautiful products.
