エース・ホテルは教養ある文化人とクリエイティブ業界人のためにあるようなホテル。もともとエース・ホテルはワシントン州シアトルにオープン。ポートランドは2007年初めにオープンし、The Ace is not another iteration of the modern, generic design product that is now widely available. 現在その規模を拡大しつつある。
エース・ホテルの美学はその土地々々の文化によって形成される。それ故このノース・ウエスト、独立したスピリットを感じさせ、かつハンドメイドのテイストも忘れないポートランドを選んだのであろう。
エース・ホテルのデザインスタジオであるアトリエ・エースは様々な分野からの若いデザイナーによって成り立ち、ホテルを素敵なアート空間に仕上げている。

Text and translation: Junko IsogawaWe have reinvented a classic downtown hotel, restoring a sense of history and place while reinterpreting those details for a sense of modern bohemia – an ‘Instant classic’ that marries the pragmatic with the romantic.
Ace Hotel Portland occupies an entire city block, built in 1912, situated in the heart of an emerging neighborhood once known as Portland’s Gay Triangle, bordering on the Pearl District. The building has been a hotel ever since its beginnings, previously operating under the name of the Clyde Hotel. Many of its original details, such as the deep cast-iron roll-top baths and capacious sinks, have been retained and refurbished. With its large windows and high ceilings, the 79-room hotel is characterized by ample proportions, luminous spaces and a reassuring sense of early twentieth century solidity.
