2008年新春、大阪市西天満に開廊した現代美術を取り扱うギャラリー「YOD Gallery」。変化する社会環境に対応し、作家と共に新しい価値観、表現を国内外へ積極的に発信していくことを使命In Nishitemma Osaka, modern art gallery “YOD Gallery” was opened in early spring 2008.

芸術表現がグローバル化の傾向にある今、全世界に共通する価値観を国内外の作家・作品の思想から見いだし、それらを紹介すること。また日本にあるプライマリー・ギャラリーとして、改めて日本人のアイデンティティを見直し、世界に提示することのできる独自の芸術観を持った作家・作品を見いだし、共に成長していくことを目指している。

It has been seven years since we moved into the twenty first century, society or nature around us, the environment has been changing more than we thought. Archaic style has still been persisting, but on the other hand, the movement of creating a completely new style by artists keeps on increasing endlessly. It seems as if they are on the both sides of the same ground in choking society.
We founded YOD Gallery holding a mission of sending these new sense of value and the way of expression. Especially the expression of art tends to be more global these days, we pick up and introduce the international sense of value from artists from all over the world. As a primary gallery in Japan, we reconsider Japanese identity and would like to develop ourselves with those artists who have a unique point of view of art which can be able to present to the world proudly.
Since the era of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Osaka used to be a town where kept on transmitting its unique sense of beauty, its culture was called Kamigata. We have distinctive climate as we accept western idea flexibly, but creative sense of value was founded without bias, while the neighboring cities Nara, Kyoto have a traditional Japanese culture. YOD Gallery present and examine diverse senses through art, we carry out wide ranging activities so that we can be a base of the culture for next generation. Keep an eye on YOD Gallery from now on.
