There are various stories about the origin where Yamataikoku has begun. As one of the old cities among origins of Yamataikoku, Fukuoka has established their own culture as seen in famous traditional confections and crafts special in Hakata. Recommend for a trip to visit historical spots such as old burial mounds and Buddhist temples. There are more fun if you go further like Hoshino-mura as known land for Gyokuro green tea (Yamecha), hot spring resort in Yufuin and Beppu located in Oita, one of the Japan's 3 biggest karst, Hiraodai in Northern Kyushu.
