Fukuoka based young architect Toru Shimokawa established the office “stad” in 2005 that works on architecture, inner space design, furniture and products. He designed a boutique “TRENT” in Fukuoka, renewed optician “Mochizuki”福岡を拠点に活動する若き建築家、下川徹氏（1983年生）が主宰する、建築・インテリア・空間の設計及び家具・プロダクトのデザインを行う事務所「stad（スタッド）」（2005年設立）。「TRENT」や、2009年4月にリニューアルした「もちづき眼鏡店」の設計デザインも彼の手によるもの。
2007年の建築処女作である「s-house」が、「Bauwelt Prize 2009」（ベルリン）受賞や、「Wallpaper* Architects Directory 2009」で、世界の建築家30人の1人として招待される等、世界で評価されている。
プロダクトの一つ「massive」（写真）は、同形からなる大・中・小それぞれの木の塊で、各ピースが寄り添うことでブックスタンドとして意味を成すというもの。一般的なブックスタンドとは違った存在感があり、用途もイマジネーションで多様化される。
商品は無垢材を木工の街、大川市の職人がひとつひとつ手作業で製作している。

Stad’s first built work “s-house” in 2007 won foreign “Bauwelt Prize 2009” in Berlin and the office was invited into “Wallpaper Architects Directory 2009” selected as one of the only 30 outstanding emerging practices from around the world.
One of the products “massive” (photo) is made from same shaped woods in 3 different sizes (large, medium, small) and that is worked as bookend that each wooden pieces snuggle each other.
It cannot be ignored and different from general bookends, and also the use is diversified by imagination of people. Products are handmade by craftsmen using solid wood in famous woodworking city Okawa. A set of bookend is 24,000 yen. Purchase or inquiries about products at stad.
