アムステルダムの東、ウォーターフロント地区に誕生したロイド・ホテル。1921年に建設された建物を外観はそのままに、MVRDVが全面リノベーションして2004年11月にオープンしたThe Lloyd Hotel is a Dutch hotel centrally situated in the fashionable heart of Amsterdam’s Eastern Docklands Area. In 2004 renowned Dutch architects MVRDV, a lot of designers and artists like Richard Hutten, Marcel Wanders。
117ある部屋は全て違うつくりになっており、オランダを代表するデザイナー、アーチスト達がそれぞれに部屋、家具をデザインし同じ部屋は一つもない。また１つのホテルの中に、一つ星から五つ星までのランクが混在していることから、予算に応じて部屋を選ぶことができる。
参加しているデザイナーは、リチャード・ハッテン、マルセル・ワンダース、ヨルゲン・ベイをはじめ、ピート・ヘイン・イーク、アトリエ・ファン・リーストなど蒼々たる面々。
ホテル内には、文化大使館が設置され、無料で見ることのできるエキシビジョンや様々なイベントが年間通じて開催されている。
また、ホテル内のレストランやバー、ライブラリーも一般客も利用できる。

All 117 rooms with a luxury rating from one to five stars – differ in size and interior. The difference in price is linked to the difference in surface area. The interior decoration is a combination of modern Dutch design and timeless classics.
There is a Cultural Embassy, a restaurant, a bar, a library and even a “corner” shop.
The hotel’s Cultural Embassy offers various services in communal spaces. Situated above restaurant the Cultural Embassy informs guests and interested parties on topics such as art, culture and cultural projects. In conjunction with the Lloyd Hotel the Cultural Embassy and its members organise projects and cultural activities: performances, small exhibitions and presentations.
