1. The Milan Furniture Fair
Seven days lived "dangerously and passionately" round the clock with Elena and Annabel, to comment on and report in two languages, almost in real time, the coolest design event in the world. A tough job which took us late into the night but which gave us a lot of satisfaction - a boom in access to Domusweb like never before.
2. Freeing oneself on an ULM
In France, at Nancy, a pilot friend introduced to me to the magical world of the Ultra Light. A breathtaking experience. The feeling of being suspended in nothing, light, without ties. Just before dusk, flying over the splendid countryside of Lorena, spying rabbits coming out of their warrens.
3. The shock of Amalfi
This summer I discovered Amalfi. An unexpected surprise. Unexpected because, lost in the never-ending tailbacks of the area, I didn't realise I had actually parked in the legendary Neapolitan village. And because entering into the main piazza at Amalfi and finding oneself at the foot of the steps which lead up to the Cathedral totally takes your breath away.
4. Architects in Venice
Immersing oneself amidst the "strongest" architecture projects from around the world, brought together at the Architecture Biennale in Venice was hugely interesting. And meeting some of the protagonists from the international scene even more so. The best of these encounters was with Peter Cook, who talked about his new "alien" creation for Graz.
5. Kitchen Confidential
The true face of the world of cookery revealed by Anthony Bourdain, famous New York chef. An autobiography full of shock revelations which leads to the discovery of the more hidden pleasures of food but above all the succulent backstage of the world of the chef. Very readable and you laugh without stopping. Better than an adventure story.
