サムジースペースは、韓国の最先端で進歩的なアートワークをサポートするため、非営利、マルチ分野の文化的なアート組織として設立された。SSamzie Space was founded in 2000 as a nonprofit, multi-disciplinary, cultural and arts organization to support the cutting-edge progressive artwork of Korea.サムジー社の先例プロジェクトであった「サムジー・アート・プロジェクト」の任務を実行するために活動している。サムジースペースの様々なオルタナティブプロジェクトは、弘益大学地区のアートシーンや韓国ソウルの現代アートシーンにおいて欠かせない存在だ。
展覧会プログラムは、アバンギャルド、アンダーグラウンド、クロスジャンルの精神を追求している。プログラムの目的は、韓国のアートを国際的な規模に促進すること。プログラムの１つには、地元や海外のアーティストを対象にしたアーティストレジデンスもあり、スタジオ、ワークスペース、また国内外のアーティストやキュレーター、批評家間におけるネットワークの機会を提供している。

Text and Photos: Yurie HatanoSSamzie Space works to fulfill the mission of the “Samzie Art Project” which was the precedent project of SSmazie Co. Ltd. The various alternative programs of SSmazie Space have been quickly becoming an integral part of the Hong-ik University area’s art scene as well as the contemporary art scene of Seoul, Korea.
The exhibition program pursues the spirit of the avnt-garde, underground, and cross-genre exhibition. The programs goal is to promote Korean art on an international scale. One of the programs is SSamzie Space’s Artist-in-Residence program for local and international artists that facilitates studio workspace and networking opportunity between artists, curators, and art critics of Korea and abroad.
