茶洛Saraku

京都でわらびもちといえばここ、というほど知られた、京わらびもちの超有名店「茶洛」（さらく）。夏の菓子というイメージのあるわらびもちだが、店舗前には年中行列が絶えず、開店から１時間で完売If you are planning of eating Warabimochi in Kyoko, this must be the best shop for you. Saraku, need less to say, is one of the most famous shops for Warabimochi in Kyoto. Although Warabimochi may be common in summertime, a lot of people make a long line at this shop waiting its opening throughout the year. Sometimes all Warabimochi are sold out just an hour after it opens.
They make two kinds of Warabimochi: Nikki(a kind of cinnamon) and Green tea. It looks simple and is moderate chewy. If you once tried it, you would never forget that.
Like many other craftsman, all Saraku’s Warabimochi are made by the owner, Motohiko Sekikawa. You were able to eat Warabimochi in the shop before, but currently they only take orders to go. It’s worth lining to buy.
Saraku is located in Nishijin, the old part of Kyoto. It is near from Daitoku-ji, a temple famous for the Japanese rock garden made by Mirei Shigemori, a hand-made soba restaurant Kanei, Sasara Nishijin, a cafe that was converted from a Sento built about 80 years ago and an original Karakami shop Kamisoe.

わらびもちは、味はニッキと抹茶の二種類。見た目はシンプルだが、ほどよい弾力の食感と口溶けの良さが絶妙で、口に広がる深い味わいが人気の秘訣。一度食べればこの味を忘れられず多くのリピーターを生んでいる。
京都の職人らしく、わらびもちは、全て店主の関川元彦氏がひとりで手作りしている。以前は店内で頂くこともできたが、現在はテイクアウトのみとなっている。並んででも買う価値はあるので一度お試しいただきたい。
下町風情を残す西陣。近郊には、重森三玲作の枯山水がある大徳寺や、手打ちそばの「かね井」、築80年の銭湯を改装したカフェ「さらさ西陣」、オリジナル唐紙の店「かみ添」（かみそえ）などもあるので合わせて訪れて欲しい。
