In Mendoza at the foothills on the east side of the Andes spread countless vineyards. Argentina is the fifth largest wine producing country in the world and Mendoza accounts for 70% of wine production in Argentinaアンデス山脈の目の前には広大なワイン畑が広がっている。アルゼンチンは世界のワイン産出国第５位に位置し、メンドーサはアルゼンチンのワイン生産の70％を占めている。ルハン・デ・クージョはメンドーサ近郊のワイン生産が最も盛んな地方。市内からワインツアーに参加するのも比較的簡単だ。
例えば、ボデガ・セプティマ、ルカ・マレン、テラサ・デ・ロス・アンデスなどのワイナリーは国道沿いでアクセスしやすい。ワイナリーを見学後にワイン畑を見渡しながら様々なワインが味わえるコースメニューを試すのもメンドーサの醍醐味だ。アミューズ・ブッシュ、前菜２種、メイン、デザートと、５品をそれぞれ違ったワインで堪能する。ワイナリーが各素材にあったワインを一つ一つ厳選して作った夢のようなメニューだ。
ルハン・デ・クージョ地方にあるチャクラス・デ・コリアという小さな町もまたワイン作りで有名だ。緑の多い別荘地のような静けさがある。19世紀後半に創業した老舗クロス・デ・チャクラスや、最近はブエノスアイレスでも手に入りやすくなった大御所アルタ・ヴィスタなどのワイナリーもこの地区にある。自転車で散歩がてらにワイナリーツアーをするのがお勧め。

Text: Mami Goda. Lujan de Cuyo is the most active region of wine-producing in the area and it’s not far from the city of Mendoza.
Bodega Septima, Ruca Malen, and Terrazas de los Andes located close to the national highway are easy to access. Lunch time offers a luxurious experience at the winery’s restaurant, either after or before a winery tour: an amuse-bouche (mouth amuser selected by the chef), two appetizers, main dish and a dessert; each of all 5 plates is accompanied by a different wine. Each menu is customized for wine lovers to savor each different wine carefully selected by the sommelier.
We also recommend Chacras de Coria, the small village in this same region famous for its wine making. This quite resort type village is also home to some of the oldest wineries in the Argetina, Clos de Chacras, founded in the late of 19th century and the famous Alta Vista whose wines actually became easier to find in Buenos Aires. It’s nice to go around the village by bicycle and soak up the atmosphere as well as the wine.
