Henri Cartier-Bresson Exhibition

From the 8th of April the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich will pay tribute to one of the most outstanding photographers in history. Like no-one else Henri Cartier-Bresson succeeded in recording the decisive moment. Showing around 300 photographs, his films and publications the museum presents a retrospective of a kind never yet seen in Switzerland.

Kid Acne “Rhythm Is A Dancer”

StolenSpace Gallery will exhibit a new body of work from renowned UK street artist Kid Acne. Featuring paintings on board and canvas, installation work and also the release of a limited edition fanzine and print. This exhibition explores the relationship between graffiti and smoking by way of introducing us to a new set of characters known as ‘Art Fags’ – a play on words neatly personifying packs of cigarettes. Both pastimes are seen as rebellious and cool, which makes them particularly appealing to teenagers. Though through repetition they become a compulsion, cause serious problems in our adult life and are “filthy habits” hard to quit.

Erik Parker Exhibition

From April 4th to 30th, colette will have an exhibition of New York based artist Erik Parker, who paints meticulously curated worlds of chaos within his brightly colored, highly saturated canvases. The artist obsessively paints layer upon layer of amorphous shapes, globules and drops pushing each composition to the optical extreme. Informed by a variety of sub cultural themes, including music, graffiti and illustration, Parker offers a profound visual experience beyond his intensely layered forms of text and imagery.

Sapporo Pre-Biennale Contemporary Art Exhibition

As the first edition of the pre-event of the Sapporo Biennale, which is planned to be held in 2014, the Sapporo Pre-Biennale Contemporary Art Exhibition will be held at Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art for 9 days from April 2. With various artists invited from a wide range of art fields, the event will explore to approach a possibility of the contemporary art by showcasing live music and dance performances as well as talks and symposium.
