Zurich/Berlin based contemporary artists !Mediengruppe Bitnik, Carmen Weisskopf and Domagoj Smoljo, who work on and with the internet, will hold the first exhibition in Japan from February 2020 at LOAF (Laboratory of Art and Form), Kyoto.
Their practice expands from the digital to affect physical spaces, often intentionally applying loss of control to challenge established structures and mechanisms. !Mediengruppe Bitnik’s works formulate fundamental questions concerning contemporary issues.
For the exhibition in LOAF, the artists will explore the realities of the current digital scene, such as government surveillance and cyber security, and address the significance of social awareness. Prior to that, from 22nd February 2020 till 6th April 2020, LOAF will host screenings of the artists’ previous works: Random Darknet Shopper (2014 – 2016), Surveillance Chess (2012), Opera Calling (2007) etc.
Carmen Weisskopf and Domagoj Smoljo will come to Kyoto to present their new art piece which will be on display from 11th April 2020 till 9th May 2020.
