Arts Council Tokyo has started “1st Grant Program 2015” to select through public invitation, which these programs provide support for private-sector artistic and cultural activities, and for the development of environments conducive to artistic creativity.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture is an organization that undertakes the maintenance and administration of Tokyo Metropolitan cultural facilities, implements cultural initiatives such as the Tokyo Culture Creation Project, subsidizes cultural activities, and engages in a wide range of other activities with the goal of promoting the arts and culture in Tokyo and preserving and transmitting the historical and cultural legacy of the region.

This grant subsidizes organizations with carefully organized plans and projects, in order to promote creative activities that broadcast the fascinating art and culture of Tokyo to the world. The goal is a well-organized system of grants that effectively meet the needs of the community, and are based on project evaluations and other factors. The grant covers a diverse range of creative fields, including performing arts such as theater, music, dance and traditional performing arts, visual arts such as painting, sculpture, and video art, and innovative new creative endeavors for which no genre yet exists.

There are 2 kinds of program as “One-Off Grant” and “Multiple Grant”. For more information and how to apply for each program, it’s available to download offering guidelines (PDF file). And projects must be co-produced with a company or a group that has an office in Tokyo.

One-Off Grant
Deadline: March 17th, 2015
