From February 4th, The Exhibition of Award-winning Works of The 18th Japan Media Arts Festival has started and 150 associated events will be held in the exhibiting term. First, a symposium “Possible to describe Media Arts?” is held at The National Art Center, Tokyo on February 5th.
In museum, saving works, works of repair and re-production, recording such as visual materials and catalogs, digitization of related documents, and database of information…. Speakers are to talk about “how we can describe information surrounding art”. In recent years, as the “archive” surrounding art has been discussed in various places, especially in this symposium, in the media art intensive new technology and expressions, they introduce the way of thinking by archivists, and some cases of museums and educational institutions .
