Celebrated British artist, David Shrigley, is set to transform the Gallery at sketch as part of a long-term programme of artist-conceived restaurants at the iconic London venue. Opening for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner on 6th June 2014, the project follows the huge success of artist Martin Creed’s restaurant commission at sketch in 2012.
Crisp and clean with a touch of his signature humour, Shrigley’s ceramics works with Gagnaire’s food to reconstruct the tabletop into its own exhibition space. The guest will find their own meaning in the interaction among the graphics, tableware and food. The Gallery will also showcase one of the largest groupings to date of the artist’s drawings. He will create 239 new and unique drawings specifically for the project.
