GED QUINN EXHIBITION

NEWSText: Satsuki Miyanishi

In May 2014, Stephen Friedman Gallery is delighted to present Ged Quinn’s second solo exhibition at the gallery. Featuring new paintings across both spaces on Old Burlington Street, Mayfair, the show will offer new insight into the artist’s practice and will follow on from his major solo exhibition at New Art Gallery Walsall.

Quinn’s new work has been inspired by the radical twentieth-century auteur Pier Paolo Pasolini’s unmade film ’San Paolo’ in the ‘Trilogy of Death’ series. The film was due to follow on from ‘Salo’ made in 1975, a highly controversial work of its time which has later been hailed by critics.

The Director was murdered shortly before the film was realised and it is therefore a fitting subject for Quinn, an artist intrigued by historical revisionism. Accompanying this investigation, Quinn will present explorations into abstraction for the first time in a bold new series of paintings.
