Granvista Gallery Sapporo in “Sapporo Grand Hotel” presents the exhibition “Wandering Scholar Masao Yamaguchi Drawing Exhibition”.
Masao Yamaguchi was an anthropologist and a former president of Sapporo University. He went to Indonesia, Africa, South America and other countries on his fieldwork as an anthropologist. And he held the posts of the professor and lectured inside and outside of Japan. He is known as Japanese “the giant of knowledge” who affects many academic areas beyond the range of cultural anthropology, and also he was suggestive to a wide range of fields such as publishing, theater, literature, film, music, art, cartoon etc.
This exhibition is reconstructed to show his unpublished drawings, edgings, sketchbooks. We can trace his point of view around the world through these works.
