Färgfabriken will present the exhibition Aberrationen kom som en frälsning för dem alla. by Anna Persson.
The piece Aberration came as a salvation for them all takes up themes like deviation, the desire to understand and to find one’s place. The human figures in the exhibition are not normal. One wonders who they are and where they come from. Are they young girls or old women, or are they both? Or do they come from somewhere else far away, where our thoughts are not sufficient to formulate what it is? We are tickled by what is deviating while we still like to keep a certain distance from it.
The searching in the dark for understanding and answers to timeless questions where the search itself is in focus is one of the themes for the exhibition. The attempts to reach self-knowledge and insight by understanding and eavesdrop on the other, like a Peeping Tom.
Anna Persson’s art is about the ordinary everyday with its twisted realities and secrets. She works with the phenomena that moves between the personal and private but yet universal and moves us in different ways. Her artwork is often narrative and the stories can be both absurd and humorous, but they are multifaceted and often have a melancholic undertone with which she wants to visualize the invisible, that what we do not really understand or want to talk about. Anna often gets her inspiration from her immediate environments where neighbors can seem like UFOs or the man on the bus tells a story about the cat that got washed in the washing machine and now behaves more like a rat than a cat.
