
Managed by Illustrative e.V., a non-profit organisation based in Berlin, the Direktorenhaus will be opened on May 28, as a new art space in Berlin, an experimental laboratory for Gesamtkunstwerk, the synthesis of the arts. Traditional crafts will be combined with analogue techniques and digital media, and will not be limited to their own aesthetics but also seen as experimental formations with both social and asocial connotations.

Much of contemporary photography and video seems haunted by the past, by ghostly apparitions that are reanimated in reproductive media, as well as in live performance and the virtual world. “Haunted: Contemporary Photography/Video/Performance” held at Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York examines myriad ways photographic imagery is incorporated into recent practice and in the process underscores the unique power of reproductive media while documenting a widespread contemporary obsession, both collective and individual, with accessing the past.

Artist Tomáš Džadoň (Slovakia, 1981) will give a talk on Tuesday, May 25th
at 6pm, in SOA Simplemente Obras de Arte Gallery-Cafe in Montevideo, Uruguay. Džadoň lives and works in Prague, Czech Republic and will speak about his current works, which reference the present Central Europe, former Czechoslovakia and former eastern block. These geo-political surroundings have a complicated past, an instable present and a very ambiguous future; they are marked by many conflicts and contradictions, which Tomas reflects with a distanced perspective. Contradiction between traditional values and modern ones are key parts to Džadoň’s work.
