An Art institution run by Yamaguchi Prefecture in Japan, Akiyoshidai International Art Village(AIAV) calls for applications to their International Artist in Residence Support Program “trans_2009-2010“. AIAV has been driven International Artist in Residence Program since their establishment in 1998 as one of the pioneer and leading institution for Artist in Residence Program in Japan.

The “trans_2009-2010 Residence Support Program” is carried out with the aim of supporting young artists’ experimental artistic activities, beyond the borders of art disciplines and nationalities. The artists will be carefully selected by the Selection Committee of the Residence Support Program of Akiyoshidai International Art Village. During the residency period, artists will create ideas and works in collaboration with AIAV curatorial staff. We strongly hope that resident artists will actively communicate with local people in Yamaguchi, tackling many kinds of projects including workshops, lectures, school visits, exhibitions, and so on. Deadline: Applications must be received by 31th August, 2009.
Residency period: January 10th – March 20th, 2010 [70days]
Acceptable applicants:
- Young and emerging artists [no limitations on discipline or specific age (individual/group)]
- 2 artists living abroad, 1 artist living in Japan or living abroad with Japanese Nationality
Result: Results will be announced in the beginning of November, 2009
