Fresh perspectives of Japan as seen through the lens of 24 Young Singaporean photographers.

Shot with ranging mediums in locations from Kyoto, Osaka, Mount Fuji and Tokyo, the 2-week exhibition reveals Japan through the hopeful and credulous eyes of these youth, untainted by the influence of commercial photography.

“Konnichiwhoa epitomises the energy and creativity of 24 young talents who share the common passion in photography. We hope that visitors would leave the gallery, feeling refreshed by the unusual perspectives of Japan the exhibition offers, amazed by the sights of Japan that they have never seen before and walk out of the gallery saying ‘KonnichiWHOA!’,” said Chow Chee Yong, the lecturer of these students in Temasek Polytechnic.

KonnichiWHOA! is presented by a group of 19-year-old Visual Communication final-year students from Temasek Polytechnic. From printing, installation to mounting, marketing and sponsorship, the students have undertaken multiple roles and worked hard to realise their dream of having this exhibition. The prints of this exhibition are sponsored by Cathay Photo Store Pte Ltd and Supporting Sponsor, The Shooting Gallery Asia.

“There is a sense of innocence and a tinge of rawness in the photographic works by these young budding photographers. The variety of photography techniques, individualistic styles and themes make this exhibition an interesting one. This exhibition would make one revisit their memories of Japan and see the country in a different light,” said Gwen Lee, Director, 2902 Gallery.
