oki-ni news July 10

MASTER-PIECE FACTORY
On a recent trip to Japan, I was lucky enough to visit the Master-piece factory in Toyoka, on the outskirts of Osaka. I’ve been a big fan of Master-piece bags, ever since I saw their collaboration range with Koichi Yamaguchi, which they have now been running for 3 seasons. The factory was a real treat, and director Fujimatsu walked me through the entire production process of a number of products. We also discussed a very exciting project that we are working on over the next few months….more news on that to follow! The full set of images from the factory, plus some other shots from my trip can be viewed on the oki-ni Facebook page here.

FORGOTTEN FUTURE
New for AW10, we are proud to be supporting young menswear Richard Dawson and his brand “Forgotten Future”.
Richard Dawson grew up in Warwickshire, moving to London in the mid 90s to study a menswear fashion degree at Central Saint Martins College where he was later awarded a much coveted bursary, by MA course leader Louise Wilson. He graduated the MA course in 2001 with a distinction in menswear fashion. Since graduating, he has worked extensively in the industry as both a textiles designer and menswear designer for various brands. In summer 2009, Richard took the decision to set up his own menswear label, “Forgotten Future”. We recently met up with Richard to interview him about the brand and the AW10 collection, to read the interview click here.

EDDIE BORGO
New York Based Jewellery Designer Eddie Borgo has just delivered his first collection at oki-ni. With its roots in New York street culture and punk ideology, Eddie Borgo’s jewllery line brings a fresh perspective and energy to these well established themes. According to Borgo, his work aims to reflect his personal interest in the bold, geometric shapes of modern architecture and the raw, emotive energy of the post punk era. We have four key pieces from him latest collection, including the “Three Station Hardware” Necklace. Check them out here.

JIL SANDER
Our first drop of Jil Sander’s AW10 collection arrived last week, and its looking really strong. For A/W10 Jil Sander have produced a tailored wardrobe with a concrete focus on shape, a wardrobe that uses texture and construction to define a confident masculinity.
A particular favourite is this simple crew-neck T-shirt with an abstract pattern, available in white and black.

MR HARE
MR Hare is a firm favourite at oki-ni, and we love the way he approaches each collection with a fresh, original concept. Following on from last season’s “Hot Steppers”, the Autumn/Winter 10 collection is entitled “I Miss Your Air” and is inspired by the airs and graces of Paris – ‘the cigarette smoke stain a smoking ban can’t erase. The chic fights. The never appearing taxis. The snooty girls. The language. The attitude.’ Mr, Hare, 2010…
