CHELSEA GALLERY

PLACE

Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood has some choice offerings this fall.

Don’t miss the show at James Cohan Gallery, featuring six new video installations of Bill Viola.

The presentation of the pieces is excellent. The pieces range from landscape views to his better known water splashing works.

At the New Museum of Contemporary Art / Chelsea is put on a pedestal with a series of sculptures composed of Nike Air Jordan sneakers by Brian Jungen. You’ll also find a series of imposing whale-like skeleton sculptures made out of plastic chairs suspended from the ceiling.

Gagosian Gallery houses a huge, weird installation by Mike Kelley which resembles a circus/haunted-house/performance.
