TOKYO DESIGNERS BLOCK 2003

These are the works by T Fukuda at MU-RA. Under the theme of a key, keys were carved into the shape of a lady, bird and other things. They were displayed at the entrance of the shop. According to the shop staff, they were very happy with that because a lot of new customers visited the shop to see the art works. This is one of TDB’s aims and goals.

At the intersection of Aoyama Street and Gaien-nishi Street, there is Cibone. Marcel Wander‘s work is refined with its elegant shape. Preparation for a show that night was going on, so I felt as if I had been in a European party place because of the atmosphere.

This is “Pleats Please”. When I visited there, a designer for 2Design, Henrietta was taking pictures. She was very friendly and told me a lot about the Australian design scene with her partner, Roger.

I tried this shell shaped chair made with glass fiber following her recommendation, though the material was hard, it fitted to my bottom due to its superb curved shape. It is this kind of chair, designed with a will and mission, that we can label a high quality chair. It was a great experience.

At the entrance of Cabane de Zucca, Claudio Colucci‘s works were exhibited. These bright red, blue and yellow chairs were made with experimentation by using Thonet’s chairs as a base and re-designing them by putting new elements on it. Their shape and colour reminded me of children’s toys.
