VIENNA IMPULSTANZ FESTIVAL 2003

HAPPENINGText: Christina Merl

For lovers of music ImPulsTanz 2003 offers two special highlights: “Blush” by Wim Vandekeybus & Ultima Vez and “Bitches Brew/Tacoma Narrows” by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, which features the music of Miles Davis and will be shown in a German-speaking country for the first time ever.

The radical, uncompromising dance statements of French choreographers Boris Charmatz and Alain Buffard will also be staged in Vienna. Recent developments in France, the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria and others will be presented in the course of the [8:tension] performance series for young choreographers.

The workshop & research series paralleling the festival offers more than 150 seminars to active dancers, from beginners to professionals. Ballet, modern dance, contemporary dance, HipHop, Afro, Jazz and Yoga are but a few of the styles to be taught. This year, apart from long term teachers, the workshop will welcome some new representatives of the Westcoast dance scene.
